Manage contact tags

managing contact tags in roster is an essential feature that allows brands to categorize and organize their contacts effectively tags can be added to contacts to unlock specific functionalities, with more capabilities being planned for future releases this guide will walk you through the process of managing contact tags, including viewing, editing, creating, and utilizing tags in various reports and features within roster video walkthrough video transcript this is a transcript from the loom video walkthrough \[00 00] hey, this is jeff at roster in this video, i'm going to walk you through how you can manage the contact tags in your account \[00 06] contact tags are tags that you can add to any number of your contacts to unlock a specific functionality, and although the options right now are smaller than we'd like, we are in the process of adding additional capabilities so that tags will become even more powerful \[00 23] before i jump into how to manage the tags, let me just quickly show you what tags look like so i'm going to click into a contacts profile, and depending on which version of the profile you have, you should see a, um, a tag section in the, uh, left hand side, and it would, if there are any tags associated \[00 40] to the customer, you will see that those tags right here with a little x where you could click to remove the tag from the card \[00 48] so that's what tags look like at a general level on let's go into the, um, settings where we can manage that \[01 08] click on the logo or brand name in the left hand navigation, and then click on brand settings in the flyout menu, and from there, click on contact tags in the left navigation \[01 21] and once there, you'll see a list of all of the tags that have been created for your account and you'll notice that it gives you a usage count, so you'll see how many contacts have been tagged with that tag \[01 32] or if it has no contacts, then it would show as unused, and you can save and see who on your team created that tag \[01 39] each tag can be individually edited, so if you click in the more menu and then click on edit, you'll get an option to change the tag name and the color, and then you'll see a live preview of what that, those changes would look like \[01 51] and then there's also a really handy feature called replace, and this would allow you to replace any existing usages of a tag with another tag \[02 02] so, for example, if i wanted to replace the featured with the flagged, i can select that, and then it will take all of the contacts who have that featured flag, and it will then assign the, or featured tag, and assign the flagged tag to them instead \[02 18] so you see how i swapped those i'll just go ahead and swap those back real quick and you guys can use the tags however you want \[02 27] uhm, that's the basis of how to, oh, i guess i didn't cover the create tag so there is a create tag button, so if you want to create a new tag, you can simply do that \[02 37] uhm, you can also do that from other places in the app let me just show you real quickly, though, one of the, uhm, current use cases for tags \[02 46] i'll show you a couple, actually first of all, you can filter the list of contacts by tag so you can see that, filtered that list right there \[02 57] and then if i come into, some of the reports have a tags feature so if i want to, let's see if this one does, if i want to filter the sales attribution report by, uh, my vips, for example, click that \[03 12] pull up any, uhm, then you can filter by vips uhm, so there's many places in the application where you can filter by contact tags \[03 22] and then there's one other main feature that's covered in a separate video, but i want to just call that out real quickly \[03 28] since we're talking about tags, and that is the ability to, uhm, create overrides for referrals so, if i come into the, this program's referral commission settings in the program settings, and i open up to edit the referral commissions, i can see a section under here for referral amount override \[03 47] and this is an available option if the reward type is set to either percentage of sale or fixed amount it's not available for referral tiers, since that's a form of automatic tiers \[03 59] so, with this referral, referral override, i can click add, and i can select, uhm, i can select vips, for example, and then i can select a different referral amount that they would receive if a referral comes in and they are currently tagged with that specific contact tag \[04 16] so, it's a great use case for that we do have additional features coming through, like being able to add and remove tags when they unlock \[04 24] milestones, uhm, add and remove tags when they complete specific campaigns, things like that so, you should see additional use cases for tags coming forward, but if there are certain things that would make your life easier, if we had tags more prevalent, or if we, you could do certain automations with \[04 40] tags, let us know we love hearing ideas and feedback you can shoot us an email at support at getroster com and in the meantime, have a great day \[04 48]
