Link clicks report
The Link Clicks report shows you how shoppers reach your store through your ambassadors' referral links — broken down by the channel each click came from, such as Instagram, TikTok, or Google. It helps you see which channels are driving the most traffic, how that traffic converts into orders and revenue, and how much of it comes from paid ads.
What you'll see
At the top of the report, a set of summary tiles gives you the totals across every channel for your selected filters:
- Total link clicks — all referral-link clicks captured in the selected period.
- Unique ambassadors — how many ambassadors generated those clicks.
- Referred orders — orders attributed to those clicks.
- Referred revenue — revenue from those referred orders.
- Conversion rate — referred orders divided by link clicks.
- Paid ad clicks — clicks that arrived from paid advertising.
Below the tiles, the report lists one row per channel, with these columns:
- Channel — where the click came from (for example, Instagram, TikTok, Google, or Link-in-Bio). Clicks we can't attribute to a specific channel appear as Direct / Unknown.
- Link clicks — the number of clicks from that channel.
- Link clicks (%) — that channel's share of your total clicks.
- Referred orders — orders attributed to that channel.
- Referred revenue — revenue from that channel's referred orders.
- Conversion rate — referred orders divided by link clicks for that channel.
- Paid ads — how many of that channel's clicks came from paid advertising.

- Confirm to download a CSV file with one row per channel.
How Roster detects the channel
When an ambassador shares their referral link and someone clicks it, Roster records the click and works out which channel it came from. It does this by analyzing the click's user agent (the app or browser it opened in), the referring page, and the link's URL parameters.
A click is counted as a Paid ads click when it carries the parameters that advertising platforms add to paid traffic — for example Google's click ID, or a Meta click combined with ad-campaign details from Ads Manager.
- Direct / Unknown is normal. When a click arrives with no identifying signals — common with privacy browsers, stripped referrers, or links pasted into email, SMS, or notes apps — it lands here. It isn't an error, and for many brands it's one of the larger rows.
- Channel reflects how the click arrived, not where it was posted. If a shopper taps an ambassador's Instagram bio link but it opens in their phone's default browser, the click may register as Direct / Unknown rather than Instagram.
- Meta paid clicks need URL parameters set up. A Facebook click ID on its own appears on both organic and paid traffic, so Roster only counts a Meta click as paid when your Ads Manager URL parameters are also present. If those aren't configured, paid Meta clicks can be undercounted.
- Referred orders follow attribution rules. An order only counts as referred when the ambassador was active in a program at the time of the order, so referred orders and revenue can be lower than raw click counts suggest.
