Import unassigned shareable codes
In this guide, we'll walk through the process of importing a batch of unassigned shareable codes into a discount rule in Roster. This feature is particularly useful for brands not using Shopify, allowing for automated shareable code assignment without manual intervention.
Step-by-step instructions
These steps assume you already have already completed the steps in theSet up shareable codes guide and that you are not using Shopify as your e-commerce platform
Prepare your CSV file
- Create a CSV file with a single column titled Code in the header.
- Add the list of unassigned discount codes under the Code header.
- Save the file in .csv format.
Example:
Code
CODE-A1B2C3
CODE-X9Y8Z7
CODE-4K3L5MOr download this sample CSV file:
Navigate to the discount rule
- Go to the Discounts section in your Roster account.
- Select the discount rule you want to upload the codes to.
Import unassigned codes
- Click on More Actions > Import within the selected discount rule
- Then select Import Unassigned Codes from the dialog.
- Choose the CSV file containing the codes.
- Review the preview showing the number of codes to be imported.
- Click Import to complete the process.
Verify unassigned codes
- Return to the discount rule page.
- The unassigned codes will not be displayed in the list of codes, but the Unassigned Codes summary total should equal the number of unassigned codes that have imported into the discount rule.
Set up a "low codes" reminder (optional)
- Click on More Actions > Set reminder
- Specify a threshold (e.g., when only five codes remain).
- Select one or more team members to receive the email reminders.
- Save the settings to enable email notifications.
The selected team members will receive an email reminder when the number of unassigned codes drops below the threshold.
Test the code assignment process
- Simulate an ambassador logging into their profile.
- Navigate to the discount card in their ambassador dashboard.
- Click Show Code to have Roster assign an available unassigned code to the ambassador.
- Verify the assigned code appears and that the remaining count updates in the discount rule.
