deactivating one or more discount codes in roster allows you to manage leaked, problematic, or unused codes without affecting the entire discount rule this guide provides a step by step approach to deactivate one or more codes video walkthrough video transcript this is a transcript from the loom video walkthrough 0 00 hey, this is geoff at roster in this video, let's talk about what it looks like to deactivate one or more discount codes 0 07 there's a separate article and video on deactivating entire discount rules, which would also deactivate all of the codes with inside those rules 0 16 in this case, we're just going to be looking at deactivating a subset of codes, maybe even just one code this is a common scenario, let's say, that you've discovered 0 24 that when the ambassador shareable codes has been leaked and you want to deactivate that code, that'd be one use case 0 30 maybe you've moved a few people out of a program and their codes didn't get deactivated, so you want to come in and deactivate those 0 38 so, there could be a number of reasons why you want to deactivate some codes so, let's just go through the mechanics of how to actually do to start with, let's go to the, discount rules page 0 50 so, click on the more, left hand navigation, then select discounts that'll bring up the discount rules and from here, let's go ahead and click into one of these discount rules that has some assigned codes 1 01 let's just pretend for this example that samuel beck has a code that has been leaked, and there's starting to be lots of orders coming in with that, and you don't want to pay out commissions on that leaked code 1 12 so, there's a few things that you can do the first thing is, you can just click the little more icon, more menu icon, on the row that has that code, and it'll open up a menu that has the option to deactivate the code, and if you select that, then that code will instantly become deactivated 1 29 a deactivated code essentially means it's still assigned to that person for reference, but any orders that come in won't be attributed to that ambassador, either as, um, for a personal order or for, uh, a referred order, in the case of a shareable code so, that's one option, is to do it by clicking 1 48 the little more menu the other option is you can select one or more codes, using the checkboxes on each row, and once you've selected the rows that you want to deactivate, click on the actions drop down, and then select deactivate code 2 00 it's selected codes, and that will also deactivate the codes corresponding to the rows that you checked so, i'm going to go ahead and click that, so you can see this 2 09 um, it will bring up this dialog that tells you that by deactivating this code, it's going to be hidden from the ambassador in their portal 2 18 it's going to disable attribution in roster to that ambassador, and if you have a shareable shopify store that this is connected to, it will delete that code from your shopify store 2 29 now, that's shopify's limitation they don't have the same concept of deactivating like we do in roster they just simply delete a code if the top level code itself is still active 2 42 so, if there's any orders that have come in with that code in your shopify store, you'll still be able to do reporting on that, and you'll see the code is within an order 2 50 it just deletes the actual code itself so, i'm going to go ahead and click yes, deactivate, and it's going to deactivate that 2 59 now, that code still shows up in my list here, but it shows up as deactivated there's a status drop down filter on this discount rules list page that i can then click deactivate it on, and it will show me a list of all the codes that have been deactivated within this rule, and sure enough, there's that 3 21 code okay, so another way to deactivate an individual code is to go to the ambassador's, uh, detail page, and if you come over, or scroll down to the discounts and links 3 37 link section, and you see, uh, find the code that you're interested in to the right of that code, in that little table of discount codes, is a icon to deactivate the discount code 3 49 so if i click on this, i'm gonna get that same modal telling me that, what's gonna happen when i do this, and so i'm gonna confirm by click, clicking yes, deactivate, and now that code now 4 01 shows up here on their contact page as deactivated so those are the main ways of deactivating one or more codes in your shopify account, or excuse me, in your roster account, and if you're linked to shopify, then it will delete the corresponding codes in, in shopify 4 19 if you have any questions about discount codes, discount rules, deactivating them, shoot us an email to support at getroster com, and in the
