adding your brand's website domain into roster and verifying it as an email sending domain can significantly improve the deliverability of emails sent from roster using your brand's email addresses this process ensures that emails land in your ambassadors' inboxes rather than their spam folders although the steps involved are straightforward, you might need assistance from someone with access to your brand's domain settings video walkthrough video transcript this is a transcript from the loom video walkthrough \[00 00] hey, this is jeff at roster in this video, i'm going to show you how you can add your brand's website domain into roster so it can be verified as an email sending domain \[00 11] this is really helpful in, uh, increasing the deliverability of emails that get sent out of roster using your brand's email addresses \[00 21] it keeps the emails out of your ambassador's spam account and make sure they get into the inbox so it's a really straightforward set of steps, but it might require somebody on your team to help out who has access to updating your brand's domain \[00 36] so let's get into how this works um, to get started, click on the logo, your brand logo or name at the bottom left navigation \[00 44] and then the fly out menu, click brand settings and what's that? that big modal window opens up, click on domain settings in the left navigation \[00 53] when you first come here, you probably won't see much more than just an add domain button and a little description of why validating your domain is beneficial \[01 02] so click the add domain button and in this modal, you're going to see a, um, can't talk and type the same time \[01 11] you're going to see in it input field to type in your brand's domain so just go ahead and type that in and then click continue \[01 19] and then the page will refresh and you'll see a table on the page that has three dns records each of these three records are what we call cname records \[01 30] and each row has a name and a value and you need to be able to go into your dns settings for your domain \[01 36] and create three new cname records with these exact values right here and it's really straight forward if you've worked with domains \[01 44] if you haven't, hopefully somebody on your team has and they can help you out at the top of this page, there's a blue box and there's a button that says share instructions \[01 53] if you click on that, it will open up a little modal dialog with a preformatted message that you can send to a team \[02 00] so just simply click copy text and it will copy that to your clipboard and then you can put that into an email, a slack message or however you communicate with the person who has control over your brand's domain \[02 12] they should know what to do if not, it's really easy to google how to add dns records so i'll leave that part up to you guys and i'm going to go over to my domain provider right now \[02 23] bye bye and put in these cname records and then i will come start this loom back up and we'll see if they get verified \[02 34] okay, so i have updated my dns settings and i'm going to come back into roster and you'll see there's a, uh, button here that says verify \[02 43] and if you click the verify button, then roster will go out to our email provider and they will verify that \[02 48] those dns settings are correct and in my case, it looks like it instantly verified when you're dealing with dns records and, uhm, dns servers, it can take up to 24 hours for all of these records to propagate \[03 02] nowadays, it seems like it happens almost instantly so, uhm, just give it a little bit of time, but if it's been like an hour or two and these are still, any number of these are still showing as unverified \[03 12] then shoot us a message at support at get roster com and we can dig into it but for the most part, it usually verifies almost instantly so, okay, now that i have that email domain, that sending domain verified when i go out to, when, when roster sends an email from any of the email addresses with \[03 29] that email domain, the recipient and the email providers themselves and the inboxes will look to see if the sending domain is authorized to, or the email sender is authorized to send emails from that domain and it will show up in the recipient's inbox as verified \[03 53] and that will greatly reduce the likelihood that an email will end up in a spam folder so, we, we strongly encourage you encourage all brands to add their domain here and get it verified so that they can increase the chance of ambassadors seeing their emails \[04 07] and that's, like, a really important communication, uhm, feedback loop and roster and you don't want those going to spam if you have any questions or need any help with this, we're more than happy to help \[04 18] we've seen all the possible issues that can ever come up with brands, uhm, and some of their trickier setups so, shoot us a message or send an email \[04 25] and in the meantime, have a great day thanks step by step instructions access brand settings click on your brand name or logo located in the bottom of the left hand navigation in the fly out menu, select brand settings when the brand settings modal appears, choose domain settings from the left navigation add domain for verification click the add domain button in the input field, type your brand's domain and click continue add cname records to dns settings a table will display three dns records, each labeled as a cname record with a name and value access your dns settings for your domain and create three new cname records using the exact values provided if needed, click share instructions to copy a preformatted message with instructions for your team verify the dns settings return to roster and click the verify button roster will contact the email provider to verify the dns settings if successful, the domain will be marked as verified dns propagation can take up to 24 hours, but often happens much sooner if verification issues persist after a couple of hours, contact support at mailto\ support\@getroster com need help?
