Updating a reward for an existing milestone
9 min
roster allows you to change the type of reward associated with a milestone at any time this flexibility makes it easy to shift between custom rewards, automated product rewards, and discount codes as your ambassador program grows however, it’s important to understand how these changes affect ambassadors who have already unlocked the milestone, versus those who will unlock it in the future how to change a milestone reward to update a milestone reward navigate to the milestones section of your roster portal select the milestone series you are wanting to edit click the "edit milestone series" button in the top righthand corner go to step 2 of the milestone series remove the existing reward (e g , a custom or manual reward) by clicking the "edit" icon to the right of the reward and then selecting the "remove" option in the "edit milestone" popup choose a new reward type discount rule (automatically issued discount code) automated product reward (for shopify brands) what happens after the change? the updated reward will apply automatically to ambassadors who unlock the milestone after the change is made for ambassadors who had already reached the milestone before the reward change, the outcome depends on the status of the previous reward ambassadors who hit the milestone after the change will receive the new reward type automatically no manual intervention is required ambassadors who hit the milestone before the change their eligibility for the new reward depends on whether the previous reward is considered fulfilled previous reward type status will ambassador receive new reward? discount code issued no — considered fulfilled custom or manual reward not fulfilled yes — eligible for new reward automated product reward not yet redeemed yes — eligible for new reward any reward already fulfilled/redeemed no — original reward remains key example scenarios alice received a discount code when she hit a milestone even though she hasn’t used it yet, it was issued automatically, so it is considered fulfilled alice will not receive the new reward bob unlocked a milestone when it offered a custom reward the brand did not fulfill it after the brand changes the reward to an automated product, bob will now receive the new automated product reward carol hit a milestone with an automated product reward , but has not redeemed it yet after the reward is updated, she will be issued the new reward instead important notes discount codes are considered fulfilled as soon as they are issued, regardless of whether they’ve been redeemed ambassadors will not receive multiple rewards for the same milestone always communicate reward changes clearly to your ambassador community to avoid confusion changing the reward does not retroactively replace fulfilled or redeemed rewards need help? if you have questions or need help managing a transition in reward types, contact support\@getroster com
