Advanced Shopify discount options

if you are a shopify brand using roster to manage discounts like shareable codes, ambassador rewards, or campaign milestones, you can further customize these discount codes using shopify’s admin panel this guide will walk you through the steps to access and modify your shopify discount codes, enabling advanced features that go beyond roster’s built in options video walkthrough video transcript this is a transcript from the loom video walkthrough 0 00 hey there, this is jeff at roster if you're a shopify brand and you're using roster to manage some of the discounts, say like a shareable code that you're giving to your ambassadors or influencers or as rewards for completing campaigns or milestones, then i want to walk you through how you can further 0 18 customize those discount codes by logging into your shopify admin and using some of the settings that aren't in roster so, to start with, let's click on this more menu in the left hand navigation and then click on discounts that's going to open up the list of discount codes 0 35 you could also get to these same discounts by going into the area where you're using them so, for example, if you were wanting to, uhm, look at the shareable code for your influencer program, you could come into the program settings and then access the code from there 0 51 uhm, when you're looking at a code and you click the edit mode, you can see if it's a shopify link code, because it will say shopify discount code and it will tell you what the name of the code is in shopify and it will have a link to get out to that code directly 1 06 but let's go back to the discount rules page uhm, i want to show you that you can also click the edit view in shopify directly from here, from this list page, or if you click into one of the rules and click the details button at the top, there's yet a third place where you can see the shopify discount 1 26 rule so let's say that for this leak proof code that's linked to the ambassador smart link, i want to make some additional changes 1 36 that's all rules in the aren't available in roster uh, let's say that i, uh, as a brand offer subscriptions for example and by default, roster just makes, these discounts available to for one time purchased products 1 49 but let's say that you want to make them available to both one time purchase and subscriptions so i could select that as an option inside of here 1 59 and then once i click, click save, any of the codes that get used by customers coming in from the ambassador, that will then apply to that individual code usage 2 12 i could set some minimum purchase requirements using this section right here i could specify individual customers or customer segments that this can apply to 2 23 there's actually a really great tool feature that some brands have, have used on the shareable and leak proof codes where they want to apply it to only customers, like first time customers, customers who have never shopped from them before 2 37 i think shopify by default will create customers who have never purchased a segment like that and this is actually a really cool thing to do 2 47 if you select that segment customers who haven't purchased or you could create your own then when somebody tries to use a code, they have to put in their email address 2 57 and if they put in an email address of somebody who has already purchased from you before, it will remove the code from their card and they won't be eligible to use that discount code 3 07 so it's a great way to do that so that's another idea of how you could further customize it it does, um, have some options on limiting the amount of usage roster has this limit 3 19 the number of times each code can be used in total and the limit to one use per customer so roster does already have this right here built into it 3 30 but because i enabled it for subscriptions up top here in the purchase type, um, shopify if i also know now shows this right here 3 38 so you can limit a code to just the first time somebody is purchasing a subscription product or limit it to say the first year, give them 12 times to use it 3 49 or you can say it reply, it applies to all of them um, you can also set up combinations from the shopify admin 3 58 so for this code, let's say that maybe even just for the most month of february, i want to tell my ambassadors that anytime somebody uses their smart link, not only will they get the, what is the discount on this? 4 11 not only will they get a 10% discount, but they're also going to get free shipping if they use the free shipping code we give them 4 19 so again, these are all just things that you can come into your shopify admin and further customize and any changes that you save here will automatically get applied to the code that gets used by one of the customers 4 33 so we think that's really, really helpful, um, to be able to come in and further customize that it's unlikely that roster will ever have all of those features inside of, um, inside of our product just cause there's so many different options 4 49 and different, uh, conditions on when they'll apply, but the way we've done it in roster is we've made it so that you can go change that master code in your shopify admin and it will apply to all the codes that get generated as part of this, whatever it is, the leak proof of code, or a shareable code 5 11 , or just a perk for being part of the program by, uhm, giving them the discount right here and the personal discounts or whatever it might be 5 19 so, it should be fairly straightforward, but inevitably there's always different use cases that come up, so if you have any questions that i didn't cover and you want to discuss them with us or you have ideas of how we can make this more seamless for you, let us know, as always, and have a listening 5 42 ear so, hope you step by step instructions access shopify discount codes log in to your roster account click on more in the left hand navigation menu select discounts to view a list of all the roster discount rules click the view in shopify link in the linked to column for the desired discount rule alternatively anywhere in the roster admin where you edit a discount rule, if the discount rule is linked to shopify, you will see an option to open the discount in your shopify admin customize discount rules in shopify upon clicking the view in shopify link in roster, a new browser tab will open to the specific discount code in shopify use the available shopify options to apply advanced customizations, such as enable discounts for subscriptions by selecting both one time purchases and subscriptions set minimum purchase requirements for eligibility apply discounts to specific customers or customer segments enable combinations so that customers can combine with free shipping or other offers save the changes you make in shopify be sure to save any changes you make to the discount code in shopify all changes will propagate to any linked shareable, leakproof, or other ambassador discount codes in roster tip notify ambassadors about significant changes, such as combining discounts, to maximize their engagement need help?
