Modify a discount rule

modifying a discount rule in roster allows you to make updates such as adjusting the discount amount, changing its discount type, or adding restrictions to better suit your program goals this guide walks you through the process of editing an existing discount rule and ensuring your changes are synced with your e commerce platform video walkthrough video transcript this is a transcript from the loom video walkthrough 0 00 hey, this is jeff at roster in this video, i want to show you how you can modify a discount rule to be, uhm, in line with however you, whatever kind of changes you want to make 0 09 so, what i'm going to do is click on the more option in the left hand navigation, then click on discounts that brings me to the discount rules page 0 16 and, uh, as a, kind of a recap, a discount rule is just the way of capturing all of the discount codes that get created for a certain purpose 0 24 so, you can see here i have three different types of discount rules i have a leak proof code, which is being used with the ambassador program smart lock 0 32 i have a creator friends and family shareable code, uh, which is used in my influencer program and then i have a reward code, which is also used as the personal discount code in my influencer program 0 46 so, let's say that i want to temporarily, boost up the discount for the shareable code for my, for the people in the influencer program 0 54 i can click on that discount rule, and then click edit discount rule, and it's gonna bring up a dialogue this discount rule happens to be connected to a code in shopify 1 04 and because they're connected, as long as your store is connected, any changes you make here will also be made directly in shopify 1 11 if you're not shopify, this is gonna be considered a manual discount rule, and any changes you make here will reflect that to the ambassador, but you're gonna want to make the corresponding changes 1 20 in whatever your e commerce or website platform is so in this case, let's go ahead and boost this up to 25% let's say we're having a short sale, we want to get some additional, uhm, give them some additional incentive to share that item 1 36 with friends and family so we've changed that to 25% and we're going to keep everything as is here and then i'll click save and that will, that will make the change within roster 1 48 so now if i was to click onto an ambassador, i'll go ambassador's profile and log in as that ambassador since this is a shareable code, i'll go to the rewards or the referrals tab and i can see here now in this card for the shareable code that the customers will receive a 25% off discount 2 09 so that will be reflective of any time somebody uses the discount code when it's set to that amount and, there's a couple other things that you can do with discount codes that might be relevant if you want to provide a discount 2 24 a description to your ambassadors that give them some instructions or some parameters on how to use it you can do that here 2 31 you can also toggle between a percentage and a fixed amount uhm, usually you won't do this, but you might find that at some point you want to stop offering a percentage off 2 42 let's say that you want to do a holiday sale and anybody from, coming in from the ambassador gets $50 off 2 48 you might also want to constrain it to a specific product that's in your store so, if you are connected to shopify, you can add one or more products and that will then, that code specifically will be linked to those products and will only be eligible for those select discounts to view the list of discount rules identify the discount rule you want to modify from the list edit a discount rule click on the desired discount rule to open its details select edit discount rule to open the editing dialogue update the discount rule settings adjust the discount amount (e g , change from 20% to 25%) change the discount type (e g , switch between percentage and fixed amount) add or update the description to provide instructions for ambassadors apply product or collection restrictions (shopify only) save changes and sync with e commerce platform click save to apply your changes in roster if the discount rule is linked to shopify, changes will automatically sync with your shopify admin for non shopify platforms, manually update the corresponding discount rule in your e commerce system to ensure alignment verify updates from an ambassador’s perspective navigate to an ambassador’s profile in roster log in as the ambassador and go to the referrals or rewards tab confirm that the updated discount rule is reflected in the ambassador’s view (e g , updated discount amount or restrictions) optional add advanced configurations if needed, update the following advanced settings constrain the discount rule to specific products or collections (shopify only) set an expiration date for time limited promotions deactivate the rule if it is no longer
