Add flat-rate shipping to product rewards

adding a flat rate shipping fee to product rewards in roster allows brands to cover shipping costs while still providing valuable rewards to ambassadors this feature is especially useful for product seeding campaigns or milestone rewards where brands need to control expenses when an ambassador redeems their reward, they will be prompted to pay the specified shipping fee to complete the product redemption flow, ensuring a seamless experience for both parties video walkthrough video transcript this is a transcript from the loom video walkthrough 0 00 hey there, this is jeff at roster in this video, i'm going to show you how you can add a shipping fee, a flat rate shipping fee, to your automated product rewards that are going through your shopify store 0 12 this is really helpful in the case where you're doing maybe like a product seeding campaign, or you're giving out a reward, and the reward is within your budget, but maybe adding shipping onto that tips you over the side 0 24 so, you can put a flat rate shipping amount onto your product reward, and then when an ambassador receives that reward and goes to redeem it, they'll be taken to the final checkout page on your cart to put in their credit card to pay for that shipping amount 0 40 and you can set that shipping amount to whatever you want the catch is it's just going to be a flat rate shipping, so regardless of where their address is, uhm, they'll pay that sale 0 48 same amount so, let's go ahead and take a look at how we can set that up in this account here, i have a ugc campaign, and when i open this up, i can scroll down to the rewards section, and it looks like that 1 01 there is an ambassador reward, uh, uh, uh, made a product reward upon joining the campaign and this is the reward where i want to add some shipping 1 12 so i'm going to click, edit reward, and it's going to bring up the reward builder, and you see this panel right here says shipping, and right now it's set to free shipping i'm going to change that to custom rate, and i'm going to set the shipping amount to $4 99 seems like a nice balance there 1 29 um, and then over here to the right is just a little bit of a preview, uh, just kind of a mock up of what this will look like to, your ambassadors 1 37 after they claim their gift inside of roster, they'll be taken to this checkout page, and they'll see that there's an ambassador shipping for $4 99, and that they're getting the order as a gift with that discount, but they do need to pay for that shipping 1 53 so, i'm going to go ahead and click save right here okay, so now the flat rate is saved for that reward 2 00 let's go ahead and find one of our campaign participants log in here is jeffery okay, so here's the campaign, and we're going to join that campaign, and because this reward is awarded upon joining, and, actually, there wasn't any action, so it probably completed it 2 28 umm, i'm going to click on redeem reward, and it's going to bring me into the product fulfillment i've made a product fulfillment 2 36 i'm going to grab this videographer snowboard sounds pretty cool we'll put in the shipping address finalize this let's update my roster profile 3 04 okay, so i'm going to confirm shipping, and then it looks like here that i have to pay for $4 99 in shipping, so i'm going to click this, pay $4 99 and it's going to open up the, uh, new tab for the ambassador 3 21 it's going to bring them to essentially what this is the same as, is if you were to create a draft order in your store, and then send them that draft order as an invoice for them to pay 3 31 so they can see that their address is all pre filled here, and the shipping method is set to ambassador shipping, and now they just need to put in their credit card, and i'm going to put in my magical credit card 3 44 uhm, so and that's all i have to do so i see that the discount was applied, total, and pay now 3 56 and it's all done so they'll get an email, you'll have that order show up in your shopify store as an order that needs fulfillment 4 08 and from the ambassador's perspective, it's all done and because this has the, um, shipping on it, but it's been paid for, uh, they'll see this check order status 4 17 so if i was to click on this, roster's going to do some checking behind the scenes and may not work 4 25 working this preview here let me try that one more time let's try closing it redeemed c details uh, yeah so there's a little bit of a snag with how we do these, these draft orders with shopify that requires shipping 4 42 we don't instantly know which order came back in from, uh, product rewards set so they, in the case of shipping, i'm pretty sure we actually don't know if the, or we don't get the, uh, order status url back from shopify 5 01 so we can't show that to them so you might need to, uh, they might need to reach out to your team or just refer to the email 5 10 they, they, most likely this sent me shopify sent me a, a confirmation email with that tracking number in it and if they're using the same address that they're using that's connected to their shop account, um, then that would show up as, that would show up there for them as well 5 26 so it should be several ways for them to check the status, but unfortunately shopify doesn't allow us to connect the order that we completed through that, um 5 37 check out flow and the order they did here seems crazy, i know, but that's, uhh, that's like, life less shopify's api 5 46 it's almost perfect, but it has these glaring gaps so, okay and then, if i refresh this page here, it should now reflect that, uh, jeffery's completed the campaign, and if i come to the rewards tab, and i'm i can see that jeffery redeemed that product reward, and the details of that show up here in 6 07 this, um, fulfillment drawer, and i can see the order in shopify by clicking that link let's see if this logs me in 6 17 okay, cool so, there's the order it's easy for me to see, and if for some reason i need to edit the order, you can't edit 6 24 it draft orders, at least you didn't used to be able to maybe they've changed it now that'd be great if they changed it 6 33 you didn't used to be able to edit draft orders that came through an api that might still be the case, but it looks like i can edit this now 6 44 which would be really handy, but we didn't end up building out this whole edit shopify order flow umm, and i would be really happy if you can not do that just directly inside of here 7 01 i'm not sure maybe it's because it's a test order that i can edit it, but it didn't used to be able to edit the uhh, orders created through the, uh, draft orders created through the api 7 12 maybe you can now and that would be fantastic, so that's it for this video hopefully that makes sense
