setting up product rewards in roster allows you to offer gifts and rewards to ambassadors as part of your campaigns and milestones free shipping is a great way to ensure your products get into the hands of your ambassadors however, there are circumstances where charging for shipping is the only viable option with the latest update, you can configure product reward shipping rates based on the recipient's country, offering more flexibility and control over shipping charges, particuarly for brands seeing to expand outside their primary country this feature is also useful for brands using shopify markets pro, which does not allow the creation of completely free international orders by setting up country specific shipping rates, you can ensure international ambassadors won't be blocked from redeming their product rewards video walkthrough video transcript this is a transcript from the loom video walkthrough \[00 00] hey, this is jeff at roster in this video, i'm gonna walk you through how you can set up your product rewards, whether you're doing that for product seeding or completing milestones \[00 10] you can enable those rewards to charge shipping to the recipients based on what country they're in so, let's go ahead and dig in and see what an example looks like \[00 21] in my ambassador campaign, i have it set up to to give a product reward as a gift when they join the campaign \[00 28] so, let's go ahead and edit the reward and see how it's set up right now, it's set up to offer free shipping \[00 34] and previous to this new enhancement, you had two choices at the entire reward level, you could do free shipping, or you could charge a flat rate \[00 44] now, with this new feature, you have the option of setting up countries countries 7 7 8 we'll see specific shipping rates \[00 49] so, here you can see that i have a default rate, and the price is free for all countries and i can add another rate here \[00 58] so, let's say that i want to charge people in or my store's us base so, let's say that i want to charge people in canada, a flat rate of $9 99 \[01 11] so, i can change this to flat rate, and then set the price to $9 99 i'll call this, umm, ambassador shipping for lack of better words \[01 24] and then here's a preview that your ambassadors will see while they're in the store now i'll hit save and now let's say that i want to add one more rate for all other countries as kind of a catch all \[01 36] umm, so what i'm gonna do, because my, umm, this default rate will apply to any country that doesn't have a country specific rate, what i'm gonna do actually is just set the united states here, in this country specific rate, and i'll give it a shipping title \[01 59] and now i have the, the u s is free, canada is $9 99, and then i just need to come and edit the default shipping rate to flat rate shipping, and set the price to $19 99 \[02 13] and i can even call this international shipping and then hit save okay, and then the way this will work then is that people who, put in their address for the united states will get free shipping \[02 28] if they put in a canadian address, they'll pay $9 99 and then all other countries where ambassadors are redeeming gifts from, they'll pay $19 99 \[02 38] so we can go ahead and take a look to see what this looks like from the ambassador's perspective so here, i'm already logged in as an ambassador who's received this gift \[02 48] and i've come into the redemption flow so let's go ahead and add a product to the cart and that gives me everything i need for the product selection \[02 58] and we'll go to the shipping and come to the country and i'm gonna select canada just put in the fake address now \[03 25] on the confirmation page, i'll see that the shipping amount is $9 99 and there's a button here for me to complete my shipping \[03 33] since i'm having to pay for this, uh, the what will happen when they click? what this button is, it will take them into, umm, the shopify checkout for my store \[03 43] and it will default the information that they provided i will put the shipping amount already pre filled now this says $15, but because my, umm, my store is set up to convert the shipping into the destination \[04 00] nation it automatically converted that $9 99 into, umm, canadian dollars of $15, which is really nice so now they just put in their price, or excuse me, their credit card information to hit pay now, and that order will show up in your store ready for fulfillment \[04 16] the same thing would happen if i would have chosen, uhh, the united states, they would have had a free address, or if i would have picked somewhere other than the united states it's \[04 24] or canada, then when they did that check out, it would have charged them the $19 99 for the shipping so there's quite a few options that you can do with this shipping setting \[04 35] if you have any scenarios that don't quite apply, let me know one thing that's also solves for is there's, there are a number of brands that we work with who are using shopify mark \[04 48] mark it's pro, and shopify mark it's pro doesn't allow for completely free orders to be created outside of the u s \[04 57] so when an ambassador goes to select their products, if the brand has free shipping enabled, when they go to redeem their product, roster gets an error message from shopify saying that they can't create that order because you can't create a $0 order \[05 12] so up perfectly simple work around then is to set up free shipping for the united states for the reward, and then set a default shipping rate for all other countries to whatever you want that minimal amount to be \[05 24] it could be as simple as $0 99 or $0 99 or you could get more specific to the countries but if you have that issue where you're using markets pro and they can't, you can't have, umm \[05 36] completely $0 orders then all you need to do is add a shipping rate for non us addresses and it will go through just great \[05 45] let us know if you have any questions, any ideas around this, but we hope this is something that will help your brand's workflow between roster and your fulfillment \[05 53] alright, thanks step by step instructions edit the product reward shipping settings navigate to the campaign or milestone that has the product reward you want to edit, or simply go to the rewards page to see all your product rewards select edit reward to open the product reward builder click the shipping link to open the shipping rates panel initially, rewards may be set up with free shipping or a flat rate adjust these settings as needed add country specific shipping rates to add a shipping rate for a specific country, click add another rate set the desired country (e g , canada) and select the shipping option, set the shipping price, and provide a shipping title click save to apply the changes set a default shipping rate for all other countries use the default rate option to set a shipping cost for countries not covered by specific rates click the edit icon to make changes to the default rate, such as free vs flat rate click save to apply the changes ambassador experience during checkout ambassadors will log in and enter the product redemption flow, selecting products to add to their cart during checkout, they will input their shipping address, and the system will display applicable shipping rates if the country they enter results in a shipping fee, then roster will display the amount they owe and a button to click to be taken to your store's checkout page the checkout page will default to their info, the shipping rate, the products, and the relevant discounts once the ambassador completes payment, the order is processed in shopify, ready for fulfillment special considerations for shopify markets pro brands using shopify markets pro may encounter issues creating $0 orders outside the u s to resolve this, set free shipping for u s addresses and flat rate shipping for other countries this ensures that orders are processed without errors, even for non u s addresses need help?
