reward discount rules in roster allow you to create personalized discount codes for your ambassadors, incentivizing them through exclusive discounts these codes are typically for ambassadors' personal use and help drive loyalty and engagement this guide outlines how to identify, manage, and utilize reward discount rules effectively video walkthrough video transcript this is a transcript from the loom video walkthrough 0 00 hey, this is jeff at roster in this video walkthrough, we're going to go over reward discount rules discount rules at a high level are a way for roster to group all the discount codes that get created on behalf of all of your ambassadors and assign to them 0 16 there's three different types of discount rules, and if i hover over the left margin of this table right here, you can see these icons 0 23 and this icon that has a picture of a gift is a, indicates that this is a reward discount rule and as you can see, these are intended to be given to ambassadors as rewards and for their own personal use 0 38 so there's a few different ways in which reward discount rules are used in roster we'll talk a little bit about those 0 45 and we'll also talk about what sets them apart from the other shareable discount codes or rules which you see here and the leak proof discount rules 0 53 so for starters, let's go ahead and click on this reward discount rule and it looks like this discount rule is being used at the, for the influencer program that i have created 1 04 and it is set up as that program's personal discount code so each time you add somebody to this program, because this is linked to shopify and it's automated, it will automatically create a new code and assign it to that ambassador for their own personal use 1 24 and any codes, any reward codes that are used by either the ambassador or, frankly, anybody, are automatically captured in our sales attribution as personal orders 1 35 thank you essentially, reward codes are not eligible for commissions, even if they give it to their friend to use to make a purchase, or somebody they don't really even know 1 47 even though it's not them making the purchase, it would still be counted as a personal order because they're not eligible 1 52 they're not to generate referral commissions or referral points so, here you can see i have a code that is assigned to samuel beck, and he has used it one time on an order 2 04 so, i could copy this code right here and go over into the reports and pull up the list of personal orders and search by that code and find the personal order in which samuel used this code 2 17 i can do a few things when i'm on the discount rules page i can click on this details button and it opens up the discount rule detail drawer 2 24 you can see here that it's linked to shopify so i can simply click the view in shopify and it will open up my shopify admin in a new tab and take me directly to this discount code in shopify now in shopify we create just a single discount code for each discount rule the advantage of that is that all 2 45 of the codes that get created in the context of that discount rule get nested underneath the top level code here in shopify so i can click view all codes and it will bring me up all of the codes that have been created here and how many times each one's been used and from here i can deactivate them 3 03 although, since this is connected in roster, we recommend you deactivate them in roster first so that roster also knows that code's been deactivated and then we can properly connect them 3 12 you can that to the ambassador when they log into their portal some other things that i can do here, i can import and export, we'll get into those in other videos 3 26 i can click the edit discount rule and i get the dialogue that pops up showing how many, what type of discount rule this is 3 31 i can change it from percentage to fixed amount i can add an optional description that will be visible to ambassadors, so if you want to make sure they know they can't get referral credit if they share these or that it's strictly prohibited for them to use these 3 44 for any purchases other than for their own self or whatever rules your brand might have, you can specify those here and you can further constrain the rules 3 54 uh, particularly if it's linked to shopify based on products and collections, you can indicate how many times you've purchased they can use their code in total, and of course you can set an end date 4 04 so i can cancel out of that i can deactivate any one of these codes or i can bulk select and click deactivate, and that will deactivate them in a roster so they'll no longer count as personalized 4 16 orders, and if it's, if you are linked to shopify, it will deactivate them in shopify if you are not linked to shopify and you're using your, uh, another e commerce platform, you'll want to make sure that you deactivate the codes there as well so that they are in sync with shopify 4 32 the deactivated status here in roster okay let's just take a quick look at what the reward codes look like from an ambassador perspective 4 42 and in the case of the reward code we're looking at, as i mentioned, it is a personal discount code and it is eligible to, or anybody who's in that program will get that code 4 54 so, when i scroll down on the homepage to the rewards section, i'll see that discount code and if i come to the rewards tab, i will also see that discount code 5 04 and from here i can click copy code and it will copy it to the clipboard or i can click redeem for a shopify link code and it will actually take me to the shopify store and inject that code into the store so it's ready for me to use when i go to checkout 5 20 there's other types of things you can do with reward codes and roster the two primary other types are that when you work on a, ah, can't get this guy to go out of the way 5 33 guess i can't move it well, uhm, you can do this okay, you can add reward codes to a campaign just to edit this, i can come into the campaign brief and i can add a reward code as an incentive for either joining the campaign or for completing the campaign 6 03 so i can click new reward code and i can set the timing to issue it upon joining or upon completing the and then i can give a discount 6 10 so a common thing might be to give them, like, $25 of store credit through a fixed amount discount code when they complete the campaign 6 20 and the same thing can happen with milestones so, i can come into the milestones i could edit this this is currently a custom reward, um, but if i wanted to change, i could remove this reward right here and select discount rule 6 40 and then i can specify what that code is that they get, and they will automatically get that code when they unlock that discount, or that milestone 6 50 so, they're useful at the program level actually, i didn't even show that to you discounts, so here's what it looks like on the discounts tab 7 00 you see this is set up as a personal discount code so, as soon as an ambassador gets added to the influencer program, then they'll automatically be assigned that code 7 09 if you're shopify, and if you're non shopify, we'll get into it in a future video where you can upload a batch of unassigned codes and roster will automatically allocate those one at a time 7 20 so, hopefully this helps understand about reward codes there's a lot to it there's other articles and videos, but if you have any questions whatsoever, feel free to send us an email or reach out to your customer success manager and we'll be happy to help 7 34 have a nice day thank you step by step instructions access the discount rules page navigate to the left hand menu in roster and click
