Manually assign discount codes

manually assigning discount codes to ambassadors allows brands to maintain full control over how codes are created and assigned this is especially useful for brands that prefer a personalized touch in code naming with this feature, you can assign discount codes to ambassadors directly within roster, ensuring they have the tools they need to promote your brand effectively video walkthrough video transcript this is a transcript from the loom video walkthrough 0 00 hey there, this is jeff at roster in this video, i want to show you how simple it is to manually assign a discount code to one of the ambassadors in your account 0 10 there could be a number of reasons why you might want to do this there are some brands who, when they accept somebody into a program, they instantly assign them a shareable code 0 20 maybe you want to have a little bit of control over how that shareable code is named sometimes brands, uhm, want to automate that process, but have it be within a little bit more of their control 0 32 so instead of using a shopify linked code for a shopify brand, they'll do a manual discount rule and that allows them to have that finer grain control 0 42 uhm, there could be any number of reasons, but what i want to show you is, is how easy it is 0 47 so, to start with, let's click on the more link in the left hand navigation, and then come to discounts and you can see that i have a range of discount rules 0 57 some of these are linked to my shopify store, and then these bottom two, uhm, aren't linked to the shopify store, and this bottom one isn't linked, actually, to anything right now 1 07 so, what i want to do first is, i want to create a friends and family code, and four one of my ambassadors i have, uh, a couple hundred ambassadors in this program 1 17 you can see there's only eleven codes that have been assigned out so, i'm going to come into my contacts in the left navigation, and then i'm going to click the programs filter, and filter by ambassadors, which is the program that i want 1 30 and let's go ahead and click on a contact here and expand their profile and then if i scroll down to the discounts and links section, oh, looks like this one actually already has a code 1 42 we kind of picked one out of luck so, we'll go to the next contact here and check it out they have one too 1 53 okay, i got into the wrong group let's come down further down we'll go into cassandra expand her profile, and okay, there we go 2 04 in the discounts and links section, you can see that she doesn't have one of the friends and family codes so, what i'm gonna do is click the assign code button, and that will bring up this assign code dialog 2 14 and the first drop down is to select the discount rule so, i'm just gonna find the friends and family discount, which is 10%, and then i'm going to create that code 2 26 so, uhm, sometimes brands like to put the percentage amount in the code it's very common you may or may not like that 2 37 if you ever wanted to do, like, a increase of promotion for them for a short period of time, then that can be a little bit misleading 2 43 so, just exercise your best judgment on how you have people do their code so, but in this case, i'm going to click create and that code has now been assigned to this contact and if i was to go into my shopify store and open up that discount rule, which i can do that, i know which one it is, but you 3 10 can also go into roster and click view and shopify and it'll take you right there and you can see that cassandra 10 was created in my shopify store and added to this top level discount code 3 22 so everything's all grouped together so that worked out perfectly, just, just how i wanted it to be okay so let's come back over to our list of discounts and this time let's do one that is, um, not linked to anything 3 36 just to show you how that actually can work so i'm going to click on this personal ambassadors discount and you can see that in the links to column, it's not linked to any of the programs 3 47 it's not linked to a campaign reward or a milestone reward it's just here in my account um, if i click on it, i can see that there's one column 4 01 code that's been assigned to an ambassador named aven um, but what i want to do is i, i, i have a particular contact in mind 4 09 let's say that i want to sign this code too so i'm going to click on a contact in the contact search page and i will come down to the discounts and links section and click assign code and then i'm going to search for that discount rule and i will, um, give it, uh, some generic name 4 38 david personal 1234 okay and i'm going to click create and then what i wanted to point out with this one is that that code was created in roster and if we go back to the discounts page and open up that discount rule, we'll see here that the discount code got created, but this is not linked to my shopify 5 00 store and that could be the case if you're a shopify brand, you might've created a manual discount rule, or if you're not using shopify at all, then they'll always be manual discount rules and roster doesn't automatically create them 5 13 that in your external system so what you'd want to do is copy that code if you haven't already created in your external system, you'd want to copy that and then go create it in your external system 5 26 but, um, this is basically just to demonstrate two different ways in which you can manually assign codes to ambassadors in your program 5 34 it's really straightforward you just need to be mindful of step by step
