Independent automated product rewards let you gift products to ambassadors directly — without attaching the reward to a campaign or a milestone. For Shopify brands, fulfillment is fully automated: ambassadors choose from the products you offer and check out through your store at no cost to them, and the order flows straight into Shopify just like any other order.

Use them for one-off gifts, welcome gifts for new program members, or any time you want to send product directly rather than through a structured program. Unlike campaign and milestone rewards, an independent reward has no trigger or timing — you create it, choose who receives it, and Roster handles the rest, including automatically gifting it to new program members as they join.

## Step-by-step instructions

### Create the reward

1. Go to the `Rewards` page from the left-hand menu.
2. Click `Create reward` in the top right.
3. Under `Automatic fulfillment`, choose `Automated product reward`.
4. Build the reward just as you would inside a campaign or milestone — select the products or collections ambassadors can choose from, set any limits, and add a title, description, and images. There's no reward timing to set.
5. Click `Save`. It appears in the Rewards list marked as `Independent` in the `Linked` to column.

### Reward ambassadors from a program (recommended)

1. Open the reward and click `Reward ambassadors`.
2. Choose `Add from Programs`.
3. Select one or more programs. Every approved member receives it now, and every ambassador who joins later gets it automatically.
4. When prompted, choose whether to also give it to existing members who don't have it yet.
5. A summary bar shows which programs are auto-adding members. Use Manage `programs` to change this anytime.

### Reward individual ambassadors

1. Open the reward and click `Reward ambassadors`.
2. Choose `Add individual ambassadors`.
3. Select ambassadors from your contact list — only approved program members can be selected. You can filter ambassadors similar to how you would filter them in a `Campaign`.
4. Anyone who already has it is labeled `Already rewarded` — one grant per ambassador.
5. Review the recipient count and estimated cost (recipients × product value), then confirm.

### Track fulfillment

1. The recipients table shows `Ambassador`, `Status`, `Added by`, `Created`, plus Shopify order details once redeemed.
2. Fulfillment is automated — when an ambassador redeems, the order is created in Shopify and fulfilled through your normal process.
3. Select recipients to `Send email`, `Revoke reward`, or `Export`. Revoke only works before redemption.
4. A reward can be deleted only while no ambassador holds it.

## What ambassadors see

Ambassadors get a **"Reward available"** email — *"A gift from \{your brand}"* — if notifications are on. The reward appears under Awarded; they choose their product, check out at no cost, and it moves to Redeemed. Never shown under "Up Next."
