Roster offers multiple ways to create and manage discount rules, with many scenarios handled automatically based on your settings. However, there might be instances where you want to manually create a discount rule. This guide walks you through that process step-by-step.

### Access the discount rules page

1. Log in to your Roster account.
2. Navigate to the **Discount Rules** page from the main menu.
3. Click the **New Discount Rule** button to begin the setup process.

### Choose your discount rule type

1. If you are a Shopify brand, you will see two options:
   - **Shopify Discount Code**
   - **Manual Discount Code**
2. For non-Shopify brands, the system will directly open the dialog for creating a manual discount rule.
3. Select the desired rule type based on your requirements.
   - **Shareable Code:** Used for ambassador referral programs.
   - **Reward Code:** Used for milestone rewards or campaign incentives.

### Configure the discount rule details

1. Fill out the following fields:
   - **Percentage or Fixed Amount Off:** Specify the discount value.
   - **Title:** Provide a meaningful name for the discount rule. Note:
     - Shareable code titles will appear in the ambassador’s referral page.
     - Reward code titles will be visible in the ambassador’s campaign or milestone details.
2. If creating a Shopify-linked discount rule:
   - A default name will be generated with a randomized suffix to ensure uniqueness.
   - Additional fields specific to Shopify discounts will appear.
3. Review all details to ensure accuracy.

### Save and finalize the discount rule

1. Click **Save** to create the discount rule.
2. If applicable, the rule will be linked to Shopify and synced as a top-level discount code.
3. The new discount rule will now be available for use in Roster, whether for shareable links, campaigns, or other ambassador programs.
