This guide explains how to add shareable discount codes to your program’s smart links. When a customer clicks on an ambassador’s smart link, the ambassador's shareable discount code is automatically applied during checkout. This feature simplifies the purchasing process for ambassadors and ensures accurate attribution of referrals.

## Step-by-step instructions

These steps assume a smart link already exists for the program. If that's not the case, simply follow the steps in [Set up smart links](docId\:aMBVb-At8xjE4WY49t9pe) before proceeding.

### Edit an existing smart link

1. Navigate to **settings** for the desired program.
2. Open the **referrals** tab.
3. Locate the existing smart link and click **edit**.

### Enable shareable codes as the discount

1. Open the **customer discount** section.
2. Select **shareable codes**.
3. Confirm that the program-level shareable discount code is displayed (e.g., Friends and Family 15% Off).
4. Click **save**.

### Test the shareable code

1. Navigate to your **contacts** and filter by program (e.g., influencers).
2. Select an ambassador’s profile and copy their smart link.
3. Open the smart link in a new tab, add a product to the cart, and proceed to checkout.
4. Verify that the shareable code is automatically applied in the discount field during checkout.

### Monitor and manage shareable code usage

1. Go to the **Referred Orders** report in Roster.
2. Confirm that the referral is attributed to the ambassador’s link.
3. View the **discount rules** to see:
   - Shareable code usage details (e.g., used or unused).
   - Set usage limits on the discount rule to prevent misuse.
4. Deactivate and assign new shareable codes if necessary.
